Tidbits: Give

Women for Women International: An amazing organization that helps women get back on their feet through education, financial support and/ or new job skills in war torn areas around the world. Focusing on those countries that have used women and their role in society as a pawn to forward their goals of local genocide e.g. Congo , Rwanda , Serbia . Go to website....

Kiva: A Micro-credit organization, and what I really like it as I can see who I am lending the money to, why and a few things about them. Which personalizes it and makes me see that I am really helping someone to kick start there business by lending them the money they need and just a small amount can go a long way. ;-) It's such a cool initiative. Common Hope. Guatemala: I came across them while on my travels in Latin America. And what t I liked the most is how they do such a good job of education, nothing is given away but earned. And the community centers they have built as well as the schools and houses is amazing. And they go on doing what they do best, teaching others the ways and the means to help themselves. Room to Read: They are an international charity that addresses illiteracy in third world countries. As an avid reader, I know how much value and learning is possible when you have the ability to read and write. A whole new world opens up, and while we have a lot of new technology the good old fashioned books should not be forgotten. Go to website.....

Care: Another site that helps and gives people the means with which to help themselves. Many people just need to be empowered, this charity especially helps to empower women in developing countries. A sticky interesting website also, but the work they do in real life is even better. Go to website.....

Fistula Foundation: Started by a doctor who was doing some work in Ethiopia, Fistula is a medical condition usually the result of girls having children at too young an age. It brings much shame and most with this condition are left as social outcasts. This hospital, the first of its kind, not only treats the women but restores their dignity and place in society.
